Unifying health insurance programs in Dubai

Headed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai approved, in its meeting this morning, a package of initiatives Improvement to develop the health insurance system in Dubai, which aims to simplify and unify government health insurance programs, and raise the operational efficiency of government hospitals in the emirate, in addition to adopting the council’s agenda and topics that will shape its agenda during 2020, at the council’s headquarters in the Emirates Towers.
During the meeting, the Health Authority in Dubai reviewed the evaluation of the health insurance system in the emirate, and the proposed improvement initiatives that would enhance integration and linkage between health care service providers and promote health education and appropriate patient orientation. The initiatives include unifying health insurance programs and updating the scope of the unified health insurance to include some groups Private society and enhance the efficiency of government hospitals affiliated with the Health Authority.
The improvement initiatives also include updates to the generic medicine policy and the sick leave policy, with the aim of creating a positive impact on health care outcomes and achieving the same health outcomes more effectively and at a lower cost, reducing unnecessary medical consultations and excessive use of health services, in addition to achieving fair competition between health service providers In the government and private sectors.
