Bahrain Association of Banks to launch sign language dictionary

Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) signed a Memorandum of understanding MoU with Bahrain Deaf Society aims to launch a unified dictionary for banking terminologies in sign language, which enables deaf and dumb to deal with banks and make banking transactions easily.
The agreement signed by BAB Chief executive Dr Waheed Al Qassim and president of Bahrain Deaf Society Ms. Salma Alasfoor. Presences were Mr. Mahdi Alnaimi head of translators’ committee and Mr. Yusuf Hasan, Director of Retail Banking Supervision at the Central Bank of Bahrain.
Making remarks on the agreement, Dr. Al Qassim stressed that this initiative comes under the directions of the Central Bank of Bahrain, in the framework of ensuring that customers with disabilities, including deaf, have access to all banking services provided by banks.
Dr. Al Qassim further pointed out that BAB will support the Deaf Society to launch this dictionary that all deaf needs to open a new bank account, deposits, withdrawals and transfers. He praised CBB efforts to train banking and financial employees on serving disables and elderly.
