Saudi Arabia – Health insurance covers 12.3 million insureds

The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance confirmed that it aims at extending coverage to all workers in the private sector and their families whether they are Saudis or non-Saudis. It indicated that there are currently 12,345,335 insureds including 993,520 Saudis who have 1,645,631 dependents. The number of non-Saudi insureds is 7,301,547 and they have 2,404,637 insured dependents. Health insurance services are offered through 27 health insurance companies, 9 third party administrators in addition to more than 4467 approved health providers.
Moreover, the general secretariat of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance organized a workshop targeting the health care charity “Enaya”. The workshop introduced the health insurance system, the executive rules, the uniform contract and raised awareness about the role of the council in the insurance industry. The workshop also explained how the council protects the rights of policyholders and creates a positive atmosphere in the health insurance industry.
