Growth expectations in the Gulf despite challenges

The Executive Director of Financial Institutions Supervision at the Central Bank of Bahrain said on Tuesday that the insurance industry in the Gulf region is going through an important transition with large growth opportunities in the near future given the solid financial positions of insurers and their portfolios despite the exceptional economic conditions that the region is going through.
Mr. Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Baker added during Middle East Insurance Forum 2016 hosted by Bahrain that the Gulf economies witnessed a healthy growth during the past decade with the support of numerous sectors such as the petrochemicals, infrastructure, telecommunications in addition to insurance that had a sustained growth during the past ten years due to the strong economic growth, the improved regulatory framework and the increased awareness of the public about insurance.
