UAE represents 44% of Gulf insurance premiums

The UAE took the lead in the regional insurance industry since its written premiums reached AED 33.5 billion during year 2014 with a 13.5% growth rate representing thus 44% of total written premiums in the Arabian gulf region according to a statement issued yesterday by the Insurance Authority.
This was said during a celebration organized by the Authority on the occasion of the 44th national day of the UAE and held at the headquarters of the Authority in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Mr. Ibrahim Obaid Zaabi the Director General of the Insurance Authority as well officials of government, other stakeholders, insurance managers and insurance professionals.
The statement added that “the Insurance Authority made great achievements during year 2015 which contributed to the growth of insurance business in the country, strengthening competition in the Emirati market, and upholding regional leadership”.
