The Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC) prosecutor has ordered the detention of two brothers for a week over charges of conspiring to defraud an insurance company for an amount of $500,000 under the pretext of their deceased sibling's death.
A third sibling was not arrested due to lack of jurisdiction, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The fourth sibling died 20 years ago at the age of three, Petra reported.
An official source at the commission during a Saturday press briefing said that the case had already been referred to the public prosecution earlier this year by the IACC board.
According to the IACC source, the three siblings planned that one of them, who does not possess a civil ID, would impersonate their deceased brother who was not originally issued a death certificate or a civil status identity because of his young age.
The third brother obtained a civil status identity in the name of the deceased bearing the image of the impostor. The suspects applied to the company for a life insurance worth $500,000, bringing with them forged medical reports attributed to a government hospital.
Suspecting forgery, the company questioned the matter and filed a complaint that resulted in the arrest of the two brothers.
