Kuwait will witness a new shift in the health services sector as the compulsory health insurance for expatriates will move from the Ministry of Health to Daman company as the company will keep pace with the development plan of the state, says Ahmad Al Saleh, Board Member and CEO of Health Insurance Hospitals.
Al-Saleh said in an interview with Al-Rai daily said the current health insurance system needs to be developed to keep abreast with global developments and the Daman project reflects this vision, relieves pressure on health facilities and reduces government spending on the sector.
He added, Daman is equipped with a health system through the establishment of three hospitals and a series of primary health care centers distributed across all governorates of Kuwait according to the demographic distribution of expatriates and places of concentration.
“We will provide the beneficiary with a unified insurance document covering health coverage through a specific list of medicines and analysis and X-rays.
Al-Saleh pointed out that Daman’s hospitals will provide secondary care services only, while anything beyond the secondary care services such specialized care services will be handled by the Ministry of Health and an agreement is underway in this regard with the ministry to determine the start date of the service.
