Lebanon – Ins. premiums up by 2% in H1

The figures released by the Lebanese Insurance Association (ACAL) indicated that the total insurance premium written in Lebanon reached USD 868 million during the first half of year 2018, which represents a 2.4% increase over the USD 847.6 million written during the same period in year 2017. The insurance revenues reached USD 478.2 million during the first quarter and USD 389.8 million in the second quarter of year 2018.
Moreover, medical premiums reached USD 293.7 million during the first half of year 2018 i.e. 33.8% of total insurance premiums. It is followed by life insurance with USD 244.7 million (28.2%), motor insurance with USD 189.8 million (21.9%) and fire insurance with USD 59.3 million (6.8%).
