The National Health Insurance Company – Daman today hosted the International Federation of Health Plans’ first expert panel in the UAE, gathering 15 senior representatives from international health insurance companies.
Part of a series of specialised international panels, the two-day event aims to discuss the latest trends and practices in combatting abuse, fraud and waste in health insurance.
The International Federation of Health Plans (iFHP) is the world’s largest health insurance CEO network, with a membership of more than 70 member organisations that regularly meet around the world to discuss the most prominent issues facing the industry and sector.
Held in the UAE for the first time on 8th and 9th May, the sessions apply a think tank format, with presentations by international industry experts ranging from common billing mistakes in claims submission to deliberate methods of insurance abuse.
Hamad Al Mehyas, Chief Process Officer at Daman, said, "Hosting this panel forms part of our ongoing commitment to keep up to date with the latest developments and practices related to preventing waste and abuse in health insurance."
"Over the years, we have made significant investments in IT infrastructure and applications, allowing us to employ industry-leading data analysis tools and methodologies for reviewing and detecting suspicious claims."
Al Mehyas added, "While health insurance abuse does not form a particular challenge, as a responsible health insurer, we take every measure to ensure claims are analysed and adjudicated accurately."
