KSA – SAR 15.3 billion health ins. claims in 2017

The Secretary-General of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance Mr. Mohammed bin Suleiman al-Hussein said that the claims paid by health insurance companies to health care providers exceeded SAR 15.3 billion. Moreover, health insurance premiums written reached SAR 18.9 billion at the end of last year. The number of insured Saudis reached 2.73 million and they represent 23% of the total insured population that reached 12.057 million insured at the end of year 2017.
The number of residents covered by health insurance reached approximately 9.3 million residents ie. 77% of the insured population noting that the coverage includes also the families of the residents through a complete network by year-end 2017. The number of approved health care providers is 4358 and there are 27 health insurers and 9 health third party administrators endorsed by the council.
