KSA – Insurance and health sector privatization

The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia is cooperating with relevant parties in order to finalize the health insurance system and privatize the health sector and submit the plan to the authorities for review and approval.
Moreover, the ministry of health told “Al Eqtisadiah” that the “health insurance system is in harmony with the role of cooperative health insurance in order to provide health insurance to citizens working in the private sector as well as their families and to enact the role of cooperative health insurance in financing health services”.
Furthermore, the ministry added that “it aims to create a health insurance system and a system to buy health services in the Kingdom. A holding company which will be established will supervise the operations of buying health services for citizens in both the public and private sectors”.
