Dubai Ambulance service fees will be collected directly from the patient's insurance company while patients without insurance will be provided with the services for free.
Dubai on Thursday approved the introduction of new call out fees for ambulance services, with basic charges starting from Dh600 and reaching Dh1,200.
According to the new Executive Council Resolution, approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services will be authorised to collect fees from the patient’s insurance company against its services, but the patient will not under any circumstances bear financial liability for the services.
Dh600 will be charged for providing basic ambulance services on site without transferring the patient to hospital, but Dh800 if the patient is transferred to the nearest hospital. The price then rises further depending on the treatment.
As per the resolution, Dubai ambulance will still be obligated to provide services to patients that do not hold insurance or if their insurance has expired.
In the case of traffic accidents, fees will be subject to another Executive Council Resolution, which stipulates that Dubai police and ambulance services may collect Dh6,770 from the insurance company of the person who caused the accident.
