Saudi Arabia – Suspension of 15 health insurers

The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance revealed that 15 health insurers were penalized during 2017 as they committed actions in conflict with the executive health insurance law.
The spokesperson of the council Mr. Yasser Ma’arek that the penalties included the suspension of two health insurers from issuing new contracts until the fix the situation so that the insured get the adequate health care. Financial penalties were imposed on 5 other insurance companies whereas technical procedures were imposed on 8 other insurance companies in order for them to comply with the law of health insurance. The technical procedures include a careful examination of the process of issuance of contracts regarding expired contracts and other issues.
