The Insurance Federation of Egypt said the law No 10 of year 1981 on insurance regulation does not include articles that tackle health insurance but they address instead all insurance lines, so the law only distinguishes between life and non-life insurance.
Moreover, the Federation added in its news briefing that there is not a legislation that organizes the relation between beneficiaries and health care management organizations “HMO”, so these beneficiaries will face difficulties in case these companies go bankrupt.
Additionally, there is not a regulatory authority that supervises such companies and there is not also a legislation that supervises the relation between insurance companies and Third Party Administrators “TPA”.
