Cash payments at Saudi health facilities stopped
Saturday, 11 25 2017, Category: Insurance and Reinsurance, Country: Saudi Arabia
The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance confirmed that health facilities should not take cash payments from the insureds, indicating that the penalty will be the suspension of such facilities.
This followed an increase in the number of complaints about health centers and hospitals that refuse insurance claims unless the payment is made as a cash payment, so the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance says this procedure is illegal.
Mr. Yasser Al-Ma'arek, the Council's official spokesman said that in case there is no contract between the health provider and the insurance company, the health insurance card cannot be rejected as this is against the law of the council and the penalty could be the suspension of the health facility.
