UAE – 6892 insurance complaints in 8 months

The Insurance Authority revealed that the number of complaints received from policyholders and beneficiaries of insurance companies during the first eight months of the current year reached 6892 complaints compared to 4697 complaints during the same period last year. This represents a 47% increase. The Authority indicated that it was able to resolve 6530 complaints i.e. 95% of the total number of complaints whereas the remaining complaints are in the process of being resolved.
The Authority answered the questions of “Emarat Al Youm” saying that the number of motor insurance complaints reached 5700 i.e. 83 of the total number of complaints. Moreover, there have been 849 health insurance complaints i.e. 7% of total complaints. Additionally, there were 119 life complaints i.e. 1.7% of the total. Finally, there were 15 marine complaints i.e. 0.98. There remaining 161 complaints are distributed over the remaining branches and fields.
