Jordan – Profits of 24 insurers down by 86.4%

The before-tax profits of 24 of public shareholding companies operating in the insurance sector decreased by 86.4% in the first half of the current year and reached JOD 3.3 million compared with profits of JOD 25.9 million in the same period last year.
The Jordan Insurance Federation that this decrease in profits is related to the health insurance losses of JOD 12.6 million in the first half of year 2017.
Moreover, the preliminary financial statements of these companies posted 4.6% increase in written premiums as premiums reached JOD 315.7 million compared to JOD 301.8 million in the same comparison period.
