Egypt – Loss ratio decreases to 32% by end of May
Wednesday, 08 09 2017, Category: Insurance and Reinsurance, Country: Egypt
The technical loss ratio (claims to premiums) of insurance companies decreased to around 32% during the first 5 months of the current year compared to 43% in the same period of year 2016 i.e. it decreased by 34%.
This decrease in loss ratio is related to the rapid increase in the portfolio of premiums especially in the general and property insurance as a result of the reevaluation of insured assets following the liberalization of the exchange rate by the Central Bank of Egypt during the last month of November.
