Jordan – Health premiums at JOD 171.5 million in 2016

The Insurance Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Supplies issued a summary of private medical insurance activities covering insurance companies operating in Jordan during 2016 and self-insured funds that are managed by Third Party Administrators.
The statistics issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Supplies/Insurance Administration said that total written premiums by licensed health insurers during 2016 reached JOD 171.5 and represent 29% of total insurance premiums written. Health premiums grew by 11.1% compared to JOD 154.4 million in year 2015.
Moreover, the statistics showed that most health insurance contracts are group contracts i.e. 93% noting that most contracts cover In Patient and Out Patient i.e. 98.5% of total written premiums.
