Thursday, 07 20 2017, Category: Insurance and Reinsurance, Country: Kuwait
Mr. Salah Allenqawi, General Manager, NAS Administration Services LLC said that insurance awareness is weak and many factors are needed in addition to huge efforts given that the government wants to maintain health insurance for retirees, indicating in a statement to “Al Seyassah” newspaper that the focus should be on the following points: private hospitals are congested with patients and they are not regulated at all according to the data. If 50% more insured are added the situation will get worse and we will witness queues along with a decrease in quality noting that covering retirees through insurance will add a burden on hospitals. In fact, hospitals do not have enough capacity to cope with large numbers of patients. Therefore, there will be chaos as the retirees do not have an insurance culture especially when using health cards.
Moreover, Mr. Allenqawi added that “insurance awareness should be strengthened. And this cannot be achieved unless an independent authority is established. Such an authority will supervise all insurance companies operating in the market.
