A number of businessmen and workers in the health sector confirmed that the decision to privatize the health sector in the Kingdom will cause a revolution in the health services provided to citizens in order to follow the large development witnessed by Saudi Arabia at all levels and the different sectors. They indicated that the current health services provided to hospitals and the health sector are not in line with the current developments of other sectors and are not proportional to the huge amounts spent on health from the general budget of the state noting that the health sector is the second category in government spending that follows education and training.
Moreover, Dr. Fahd Al-Bassi, deputy director of medical management at the General Organization of Social Insurance said that: the objective of the privatization of hospitals is to raise the performance of these hospitals in order to compete with private sector hospitals in providing excellent services. He indicated that the new system will stop the financial losses of the current system and will link financing to the performance of hospitals and physicians.
