UAE – 50.7% increase in insurance complaints

The Insurance Authority said that the complaints received by policyholders during the first five months of the current year increased by 50.7% compared to the same period last year.
Moreover, an expert in the insurance sector said that the implementation of the unified motor insurance contract in the beginning of the current year led to an increase in the number of complaints.
In detail, the Insurance Authority told “Emarat Al Youm” that the number of complaints received from insurance policyholders and beneficiaries against insurance companies and insurance-related professions reached 4363 complaints during the first five months of year 2017 compared to 2894 complaints during the same period last year i.e. 1469 additional complaints with a 50.7% increase. The Authority also confirmed that it addressed all received complaints through the appropriate channels.
