Half of premiums ceded in UAE

The premiums written by insurance companies grew by 12% during the first quarter reaching AED 6.61 billion compared to AED 5.92 billion in the same period of year 2016.
The 12 companies listed in the Dubai Financial Market achieved premiums of AED 3.5 billion whereas 16 companies listed in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange wrote premiums of AED 3.1 billion during the same period.
“Al Khaleej” identified the progress of premiums written by insurance companies where half of the premiums are ceded to foreign reinsurers with a total value AED 3.53 billion representing 53% of the total premiums written in the first quarter.
