Egypt – EGP 8.2 billion premiums in Q1 2017

Insurance premiums record a 207 billion pounds increase in the first quarter of the current fiscal year with the sector issuing 8.2 billion pounds, compared to 5.5 billion pounds during the first quarter of last year, a recent report revealed.
The Financial Supervisory Authority Chairman, Sherif Samy said that the new and existing life insurance policies issued during the first quarter of this year amounted to 5 billion pounds, compared to 3.7 billions during the same period last year, up 37%.
He added that the public insurance sector - property - has achieved insurance premiums worth 3.2 billion pounds, compared to 1.8 billion pounds during the comparison period, up 78%.
