Saudi Arabia – Complaints directly linked to “SAMA”
Friday, 05 26 2017, Category: Insurance and Reinsurance, Country: Saudi Arabia
Mr. Hesham Tashkandi, Acting Director General, Insurance Control at Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority confirmed that the Authority wants to improve the service obtained by the customers of insurance companies and strengthen the interaction with the customer complaints by linking directly the Authority to insurers as has been the case with banks. He indicated that the complaints submitted for all issues will be directly followed-up by SAMA in order to preserve the rights of policyholders instead of entering into conflict with insurers. He noted that the department of the protection of policyholders will guarantee their rights, so he called customers to submit their complaints directly to SAMA when they face unfair treatment from insurers.
Moreover, Mr. Tashkandi confirmed in a workshop at the Asharqia Chamber under the title “Insurance Systems” that SAMA wants to raise the contribution of the insurance sector to the national economy, which does not exceed currently 1.3% whereas it reached 3% in neighboring countries and it reached 8% of GDB in the UK.
