Saudi health insurers insure 2.5 citizens

Saudi citizens represent 20.6 percent of the total insured persons covered by the 27 licensed health insurance companies and nine third party administrators.
Mr. Yasser Al-Maarik, the spokesman of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) told “Al Eqtisadia” that the total number of insured in the kingdom reached 12,164,037 persons including 2,510,325 Saudi citizens and 9,653,711 non-Saudi expatriates.
Moreover, Mr. Al-Maarik added that the total number of health care providers reached 4,467 noting that the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance compelled all licensed health insurance companies to include a minimum number of health care service providers.
