Dr Haidar Al Yousuf, Director of Health Funding Department at the Dubai Health Authority said the number of insured who are residents in Dubai reached approximately 4.3 million beneficiaries, which is equivalent to 99% of the persons meant to be covered by the health insurance system. He indicated that starting on the first of the next month, a monthly fine of AED 500 will be charged on every person who is not insured, which will be paid when the residency card is either renewed or canceled.
Moreover, Dr. Al Yousuf clarified to “Emarat Al Youm” that the Authority receives between 15 to 25 complaints related to the insurance sector every day. These complaints are promptly treated according to the laws and regulatory procedures. Dr. Al Yousuf considers that the number of complaints compared to the number of insured is acceptable.
