Egypt – Health premiums up to EGP 1.1 billion in 2016

Mr. Sharif Samy, the chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority confirmed the increasing importance of the health insurance line of business as insurers expand insurance coverage and as the awareness of customers increases. Many commercial companies sign collective or group contract to insure their employees at insurance companies given the increases in the cost of treatment.
He indicated that new and renewed health insurance premiums during the year 2016 at insurance companies reached EGP 1.1 billion compared to EGP 976 million in the previous year.
