The number of complaints about insurers received by the Insurance Authority from motor policyholders increased in the months of January and February 2017 reaching 1415 complaints compared to barely 877 complaints in the same period of year 2016, which represents a 61% increase according to the statistics of the Insurance Authority.
The “Authority” told “Al Ittihad” that the complaints of motor insurance policyholders represent 90% of total complaints in the different insurance branches. According to the authority the increase in the number of complaints is not linked to the implementation of the new unified motor insurance contract, which started to be implemented starting from the last month of January. It added that the unified contract helped regulate to a large extent the motor insurance sector.
