Free health insurance proposed for Saudis

The Dr. Fahad bin Jumah, Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Shura Council said that the committee issued a recommendation in order to propose free health insurance for government employees and the unemployed whereas the private sector will insure its employees.
Moreover, Dr. Bin Jumah told “Al Arabiya” that the proposal implies that the government will bear the cost in the first phase. However, “on the long term it will have economic benefits such as creating a large demand for health services. In turn this will develop the sector and motivate local and foreign investments in the Saudi health sector in order to cope with the high demands of the health insurance sysem”.
