Saudi Arabia – 12 million health insured

The spokesman of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance Mr. Yasser Al-Maarik said that the number of insured who are active and who work in the private sector in the Kingdom is 12,052,017 insured according to the latest statistics, indicating that the council oversees the regulation and supervision of health insurance services for more than 40% of the total population in the Kingdom.
Mr. Al-Maarik said that 27 health insurance companies are qualified and nine claims handling companies, which provide health services through more than 4543 health service providers for all the insured. He confirmed that Council of Cooperative Health Insurance receives complaints from all the insured especially those who work in the private sector in case a health facility refuses to provide health insurance for them or their families.
