UAE – Motor insurance sector not socially active

Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, Dubai Police’s Assistant Commander-in-chief for Operations confirmed “that insurance companies in the country are not fulfilling their social rule and do not play any role in helping the police to decrease the number of accidents. Insurers do not want to encourage disciplined drivers and do not offer any incentive for good driving when an insurance contract is sold or renewed”.
Al Zafeen told “Emarat Al Youm” that “insurance companies are a strategic partner since motor insurance is compulsory but this partner is dormant and does not play any role although we proposed statistics that detail the driving records of customers in order to distinguish good drivers from others”. He said that announcing year 2017 as a year of positive commitments is an opportunity to launch positive initiatives in this field.
