The Dubai Health Authority denied that there would be any delay in implementing penalties related to the non-compliance with the health insurance law. These penalties will start to be implemented in the beginning of the next month of January, indicating that the penalty will amount to AED 500 for every month of delay in providing health insurance to an eligible person including domestic workers.
Dr Haidar Al Yousuf, director of health funding at the Dubai Health Authority told “Al Ittihad” that the coverage ratio in health insurance reached 88% of eligible persons, which is equivalent to 3.6 million persons at the level of the Emirate. This means that there are 12% of targeted persons who are still not covered by insurance. About 3 weeks remain before the implementation of penalties for non-compliance with the insurance law.
