The Secretary General of the General Arab Insurance Federation Mr. Abdel Khaleq Raouf Khalil confirmed that the health insurance sector in Arab countries has a large unmet need for specialized companies in the reinsurance field. Additionally, there is a lack of actuarial expertise in this field. He indicated that specialized reinsurance companies in the health field would help insurers limit their losses in the Arab world in the future.
Mr. Raouf clarified that one of the most important challenges facing the health insurance sector in the Arab world for both commercial and Takaful companies is the need for actuarial experts in order to evaluate risks at all levels, indicating that there is a shortage in the number of qualified actuaries.
