Dr. Haidar Al Yousuf, director of health funding at Dubai Health Authority said that 85% of the Dubai population is now covered by the health insurance service. Therefore, there is only a time limit of one month in order to provide insurance to the remaining population before implementing specific procedures. After this date, a penalty of AED 500 will be imposed on a monthly basis on each individual starting from the next month of January.
Dr. Al Yousuf told “Emarat Al Youm” that the Authority is keen on implementing the health insurance law, which provides a package of health insurance services to citizens and expatriates, indicating that approximately 3.5 million residents have been covered by health insurance through 50 insurance companies licensed by the Authority noting that more than 2000 health service providers participate in the insurance system in the private sector.
