The official statistics of the Central Bank of Bahrain indicate that there are 123 complaints against 17 local insurance companies during the first half of the current year.
Mr. Younis Jamal Al Sayed the Chief Executive Officer of Takaful International said that most complaints are related to a low level of insurance awareness. The insured is unaware of the limits of the coverage of the insurance policy. According to a news reported by “Al Ayam”, a Bahraini lady mentioned that her young husband applied for life insurance and he subsequently fell from his horse. He became handicapped and mentally impaired like behaving like newborn. However, the insurance company did not honor its promise, so the wife had to go to court. In the same direction, some lawyers confirmed that some individuals abuse insurance companies to obtain benefits for which they are not eligible. Therefore, insurers delay the payment in as they have doubles about the eligibility of the insured for the due amount.
