Oman – 31% growth in health insurance

The health insurance sector grew by 31% during year 2015 compared to year 2014. The size of the market reached approximately OR 102 million and it represents 27 percent of total insurance premiums last year, which is the second rank after motor insurance.
This growth reflects the increased awareness of the public about the importance of health insurance given the nature of this coverage related to the development of health care and quality level by following the most modern technologies in diagnosing sicknesses, and offering the adequate treatment for each case.
The statistics published in the annual report of the insurance market for year 2015 indicate that the number of employees in the insurance sector last year 2015 reached around 2525 employees including 1679 Omani employees representing 66 of the total employees in the insurance sector.
