Jordan – JOD 154.4 million health insurance premiums last year

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply/Insurance Administration issued a summarized report about the health insurance activities of insurance companies operating in Jordan in year 2015 and self-funded funds run by Third Party Administrators in order to strengthen transparency and provide accurate information to insurance sector stakeholders.
According to the statistics issued by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply yesterday, Total Written Premiums for licensed health insurers reached JOD 154.4 in year 2015 representing 28% of total written premiums in all classes of insurance. Health premiums grew by 9% given that premiums were at JOD 141.7 million in year 2014.
Statistics showed an average concentration in health insurance premiums. They also indicated that most health insurance premiums are related to group policies provided by employers (93%) and most health insurance contracts provide coverage (inpatient and outpatient) representing (96%) of written premiums.
