The General Authority for Roads Bridges & Land Transport established a fund to indemnify the victims of road accidents for deaths or injuries after it canceled its agreement in June 2014 with the “Egyptian Insurance Pool against train and underground accident risks in the railway”.
Major General Adel al-Turk, chief of the General Authority For Roads, Bridges & Land Transport said that the insurance amount levied from traffic cards is valued at 25 Piastres for every card in the fund, which will be used to indemnify the victims of traffic accidents until a decision is reached on whether to renew the agreement with the pool.
He added to “Al Borsa” that the Authority will indemnify road accident victims for EGP 20 in case of death or total disability until a contract is signed with the pools under new terms.
