Egypt – 28% growth in insurance premiums in H1

Insurance companies’ premiums in both life and property increased by 28% during the first half of year 2016 amounting to EGP 3.6 billion and it posted EGP 11 billion by the end of June compared to EGP 8.6 billion during the same period last year.
Mr. Sherif Samy the Chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority announced that new and in-force personal insurance premiums grew by 41% in the first half of year 2016 posting EGP 7.6 billion against EGP 5.4 billion in the same period in year 2015.
He added that new and renewed property insurance premiums increased by7% during the same period where it posted EGP 3.4 billion compared to EGP 3.2 billion in the same period of 2015.
