Middle East - Health insurance premium increases by 9%

A specialized study revealed that the average health insurance premium in the Middle East region increased by 9% noting a continuous growth over the past three years despite the lower demand for insurance in the region.
According to the study performed by “Willis Towers Watson” of which the “Asharq Al Awsat” received a copy, the main driver for 44% of the companies concerning employee benefits was to control claims and improve them in order to improve cost continuously given that cost increased by about 24% compared to the previous year. However, the companies seeking to save costs witnessed a decrease of about 44% to 67%.
