UAE – Health insurance premiums exceed AED 15 billion in 2016

Health insurance premiums written in the health insurance sector in the UAE increased by 15.6% during year 2016 exceeding the amount of AED 15 billion for the first time according to the estimates of “BMI” (Business Monitor International) the British research firm that confirmed that this line became the largest in the country.
The quarterly report of the firm confirmed that the health insurance sector is driving the growth of the insurance sector in the country since the UAE adopted a clear vision in order to provide comprehensive health care to all citizens and residents.
It indicated that compulsory health insurance in Abu Dhabi and Dubai strengthened the growth of the sector over the past five years taking control of 45.5% of total written premiums in the country during 2015.
