A number of claimants in Abu Dhabi expressed frustration about long waiting periods at pharmacies in order to obtain the authorizations of health insurance companies to cover the cost of treatment.
The claimants confirmed to “24.ae” that “long waiting periods at pharmacies in order obtain medicines is related to the refusal of health insurance companies to issue authorizations despite the comprehensiveness of coverage of health insurance cards. Therefore, pharmacies try to submit an application a second time”.
Claimants indicated that they are “forced to pay for the cost of medicines in order to avoid long waiting periods before insurance companies authorize payment”.
