The USD currency appreciation in the Egyptian market led to an increase in health insurance coverage prices charged by insurance companies and health care companies. This price increase is at least 25%.
Officials of the health sector said the coverage price increases are inevitable due to the continuous increase in the hospital service and treatment center prices. So they asked for the implementation of the new law as an alternative to the Law No 10 of year 1981 in order to control the performance of the sector.
Mr. Hisham Majed managing director of “Care Plus” for health care and founding member of the “Health Care Companies Association” said that the appreciation of the dollar incited many health service providers to raise medical service prices by 30% to 40% due to the increase in the prices of imported pharmaceuticals and materials of hospitals and diagnostic centers.
