Private Iraqi insurers ask to cease government control

Private Iraqi insurance companies are planning a conference in order to tackle the economic crisis. The insurance sector expert Mr. Mirza Murad said that the conference “will also discuss solutions that will solve the issue of the control by the governmental insurers of a large share of the insurance market in order to find a comprehensive solution to the requirements of the current phase”.
Mr. Murad said in a stated to “Al Hayat” that “the 29 private insurance companies are aiming at increasing their effectiveness in economic development and want to motivate the ministries to offer opportunities to private insurers instead of exclusively relying on the public sector. This will help competition for the better especially in providing insurance products needed by the country”.
