Egypt – Federation asks help of supervision on health insurance

The Egyptian Health Care Management Society and the Insurance Federation of Egypt asked for the intervention of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority in order to clarify the objective of the protocol signed between the Federation and the Society in order to organize health insurance activities and health care in the market. The Egyptian Competition Authority has criticized this protocol.
Dr. Ehab Abul-Magd the Chairman of the Egyptian Health Care Management Society said that the criticism of the protocol by the Egyptian Competition Authority is based on a misunderstanding.
Dr. Abul-Magd clarified to “Al Borsa” that the protocol aims at organizing the health insurance market and health care allowing insurance companies to issue policies and bear health risks as well as paying claims according to Law No 10 of year 1981.
