The Emirates Insurance Association requested the regulators to control the prices of health care service providers. It also warned that insurance companies could exclude some medical centers from its network of services in case they raise their prices in the next period.
The Association expected health insurance premiums to grow between 15% to 20% in the local market during the current year in line with the complete implementation of compulsory insurance in Dubai.
In detail, the vice-president of the board of directors and director of the technical life and health committee at the Emirates Insurance Association Mr. Salih Al Hashimi said that “the committee will work with regulators, insurance companies, and health service providers in order to raise the level of awareness in the health insurance field”, indicating that “recommendations will be submitted to companies operating in health insurance in order to set the proper technical pricing mechanism that adequately evaluates risk during the underwriting operations”.
