Oman – OR 5.8 million as rain damage claim

The latest statistics of the Capital Market Authority showed that insurance companies received claims for compensation amounting to 5,897,231 Omani Rials due to the rains that affected the northern states of Sultanate during the period ranging between March 8th and March 11th. Mr. Ahmed Ali Al-Mamari the General Manager Directorate of Insurance Supervision at the Capital Market Authority said: we received these statistics from 22 insurance companies operating in the Sultanate. These claims were distributed over many sectors affected by the rains. Mr. Al-Mamari explained that the claims of the real estate sector reached 1,583,231 Omani Rials. In the engineering sector the claims reached 3,182,608 Omani Rials compared to 935,662 Omani Rials as motor damage claims whereas the Transportation sector claims reached 33,750 Omani Rials. Finally, fire claims reached OR 161,770 noting that no death claims were made during the same period.
