Saudi Arabia – Quality certificate of hospitals for health insurance

The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance issued a decision that compels all hospitals willing to participate or continue participating in the health insurance system to obtain a quality certificate (SBAHI) or (JCI) as part of the main requirements to be appointed or to be renewed as a health service provider, starting in 2018.
Mr. Mohammed S. Al-Hussain Secretary General of Council of Cooperative Health Insurance said in a statement yesterday that the council aims at improving the quality of health care services provided to the insured, optimizing health service, improving the safety patients and limit medical malpractice by developing the criteria and requirements for health care service providers which represent more than 347 private and public hospitals, indicating that the general secretariat addressed all health care service providers in order to confirm the necessity of obtaining a quality certificate within a specific date, as well as implementing the decision of the council No (102).
