His Excellency Mr. Khalid al-Falih the Saudi Minister of Health clarified that the National Transformation Program aims at rationalizing access to medical and health services through an innovative insurance system of which the design has not been finalized yet. The system will channel the budgets allocated by the government to service providers such as the ministry of health or other government sectors in order to take advantage from the insurance mechanism, which will grant access to the medical services covered in this program.
Mr. Falih indicated in a media meeting inside the King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah that the objective is to offer coverage to the Saudi citizen who is an entitled beneficiary. Access will be given with a higher quality and better speed along with options given to the beneficiary. At the same time the system will encourage health facilities whether the ministry of health or other entities to compete to gain the trust of this beneficiary in order to push him to buy the service which they offer.
